Websites of My Choice!

Hello everyone,
Hope that your art online searches have been going well! As we come to the end of the semester, I thought that it would be helpful for me to send you some of the websites that I have used and found really helpful! These sites are great for students and parents to use together, so feel free to browse together.

1. http://www.enchantedlearning.com/crafts/
This website it full of fun art projects! I found it while coming up with some lessons for my unit that will be posted on my website (COMING SOON!) On this site, there are multiple sites and lots of ways to search. One way is by going through the list of ideas and project titles. Some of these projects are geared for a class, and others just for a parent and child project to do at home. I really enjoy the different holiday activities that they suggest, like card making for Mother's day! Another way to search through the site is by looking at the big colored icons that categorize your search. After finding a desired topic, students can refine their search even more by again choosing from a list of different project ideas. There are so many project approaches suggested in this list! I would encourge you to search this site when you have a project in mind, when you're looking for a way to present some information, or if you are just looking for a fun task!

2. http://www.kinderart.com/
The second website that I would suggest is KinderArt. This website is another great way to search for a project to make, a way to present some research or a fun project to do at home. However, the difference with this website is that it offers a lot of alternative ways to create these projects. Just as Enchanted Learning, there are great ideas, but this site offers creative ways to recycle things around the house to make art! Lots of materials that you already have in your home can be used to create something exciting. And another great part of this site is the section with special projects for students or adults with special needs. There are great ideas that span from making a quilt with old blankets or t-shirts around the house, to flower vases made from tin cans. There are lots of interesting projects that can be done with a parents help because they do involve finding the materials to use. So check with the folks and enjoy!

3. http://www.rmichelson.com/Childrens-Book-Illustrators.html
Here is a site that is definitely a change of pace! This website has a gallery of fun and exciting children's book illustrations! There is so much to see in this site, and a lot of the images will be very recognizable for the children. Many famous illustrator's work is posted here for the children to observe, work from and enjoy. Artists range form Dr. Seuss to Eric Carle. This website allows children to see the authors coming together for a gallery opening, together to admire the work. It is a great inspiration for the children to see illustrators at work. There is a lot to take in and admire for everyone, young and old. From this site, students could be encouraged to have their own gallery of illustrations! There are photos from the show as well as large sections of illustrations for the children to print out and work from. I encourage you to explore this site for inspiration. Maybe you could even be the author and illustrator of your own book!

So I hope that you enjoy these websites. They are perfect for a rainy day activity, or just for browsing for some ideas. Hopefully, this blog has not only been helpful, but also enjoyable for you to see! Have fun with your work and good luck!

Miss Fontaine
